Goodnight Noises Everywhere

Each night Divina watches a video before bed. Usually it's a Baby Einstein video, but tonight we watched "Goodnight Moon". We borrowed it from the library. "Goodnight Moon" is a very old bedtime story by Margaret Wise Brown, pictures by Clement Hurd. This video has a motion version of the story but also features some other stories and interviews from kids about dreaming. One boy, who is blind, says that he does not see in his dreams. He can't imagine what seeing is like. Can you imagine what not seeing your dreams would be like? How would you experience the events in your story? What would you remember when you wake up?

This video also has some amazing artwork. There is one story where a girl talks about flying at night and everything that she flys over becomes hers. In another story, a boy sort of floats through the universe to "Twinkle Little Star". This kind of children's art/music allows me to recall the magic of childhood. Divina is like a key to me. With her as my guide, I can return to that magical place where my imagination has no boundaries. My advice, take some time in the children's section of your library or bookstore. You'll find your heart beating there.

Each night I sing Divina some lullabies. One that I sing almost every night is "Rainbow Connection." You can hear it here: www.whysanity.net/muppets/rainbow.html
