Missing Indiana

It's been so long since I last blogged, I may have forgotten how. The house is now ready as ever to be seen by prospective buyers and it looks great. Great enough that it makes me want to stay. Alas. Then we went to the Children's Museum today and I am so reminded of all the things that I will miss about "here." First, we are staying home for Thanksgiving tomorrow. There were all these wonderful Rockwell paintings around showing families at the holidays and all this sappy Christmas music. It gets me every time. I'm going to miss my family when we move (even though they are three hours away.) Then there was all the cool stuff that's always there. The sand box, the water.. what is that?... box, and the dinosaurs. Very cool stuff indeed. Besides that, I saw yet another transracial family. About every other time we go (once a week) I manage to see a white parent with a black child. I probably won't see that in Cali. The population there is like here but there are latinos instead of blacks. (Note the term "latino" here. In the midwest they are hispanics, on the west coast they are latinos. I wonder why.) After all this I am reminded of how I felt when we left Connecticut. I did not want to come to boring Indiana after living is such a wonder place as NW CT, but look how it turned out. I guess I'll just have to give it the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday I read at the library that California is named after a fictional island by the Spanish explorers. The island was said to hold many treasures. We shall see.
