Time Out

So Thursday night Mark took over and I got to go out shopping without the child. A rare luxury. So guess where I went. Babies-R-Us. It was magnificent. I perused the aisles at my leisure, checking out new products, pushing tandem strollers around, trying out colorful toys, holding up and turning over outfit after outfit. I had such a good time. I was there for an hour and half. I returned home feeling relaxed and refreshed. Funny how even my recreation is focused on the kid. It's all good.

That night Mark reports that Divina did some role-play. She took her monkey (Bibinka, given to her by Tita Patricia and Uncle Will) and bap-bap-bap, hit Mark over the head with his little hand. Then she turned Monkey to face her and said "No! No, hitting! That was naughty. Time out!" Then she put Monkey in the time-out chair. When a sufficient time had passed, she freed Monkey and took her over to Mark and said "Sorry, Daddy." She plays this game from time to time with various animals and dollies. She really seems to enjoy being in power and consistently plays out the whole naughty behavior/time-out scenario. Funny, though...when she actually does something naughty and I threaten to put her in the time-out chair she says "Okay" and happily marches over the chair, smiles, and enjoys it. Weird.
