Thunderstorm

Pretty flowers in pink and purple are nice. Lilacs surround our house and waft in through the open windows. Some people would include that bit a nature in their heaven. But tonight I'm looking out across our backyard and see the world transformed, possibly a different world all together. Bits of purple sky glow between wet leaves that are much more green, darker green, than they were just ten minutes ago. The trees themselves are black and the deck is shimmering and vibrating with rain drops. Thunder pounds drums announcing the arrival the new world. A dark, mysterious place. Everything is saturated, fed with miraculous water. It seeps down into my mind reminding me of the secret and beautiful.
