People Coming Out for Art

I said to the man "Be sure to dress warm. Like, wear an actual coat." He looked at me like "You are not my mother" as the eyes rolled to the back of his head. Okay. He wore the light weight removable lining of the coat instead. No gloves. His argument was that he WAS wearing two pairs of socks and a sweater. He froze.

This was at the Ice Festival in Niles, near my mom's house. These crazy f*@!ers came out from far and wide in 15 degree weather and carved ice sculptures with chain saws. They were gorgeous! The sculptures, that is. The carvers were puffy with layers of outer wear and large fur hats, faces red and swinty. As we passed each work, Divina had to stop directly in front and examine each one for some time before moving to the next. I was content to mozzy along to keep warm.

You know, in California we went to a sidewalk chalk art fair. These people made these HUGE pictures right on the road with nothing but chalk. I mean, these things were masterpieces.

Funny what people like to do with their time.
