Self Challenge

I'm reading this book, "Awakening to the Sacred," by someone whose name includes the word Das. He also wrote "Awakening the Buddha Within," which I did not read. Last night I read a bit about letting go of our opinions. This was quite moving for me. So much of my thoughts and words are wrapped around my desire to share my opinons. Even in this journal, I delve into my mind and bring out what I want people to know about me...about what I want to know about my thoughts. It's all about affirmations really. When we share our opinions, we really want people to say what great ideas we have, and if we are really persuasive, they even want to change their ways because of our influence. This brings me to an interesting challenge for myself. I would like to see how long I can go without verbalizing my opinions. This weekend I will attend my cousin's wedding and will see many relatives whom I havn't seen in long, long time. This will be a good time to test my non-opinion-sharing ability. I predict that I will forget my vow quickly. We'll see.

In my OPINION sharing our opinions is how we learn to see things from other prospectives. If we all stopped sharing opinions and thoughts/feelings with one another..... it would be quite a boring place.

However, thats just my opinion ;)
