Eight Dollar Shoes

There are terrible scabs on the backs of my ankles. These are from my cute straped shoes that I wore to Jedd and Sarah's wedding. The sores didn't come from just sitting around, like I planned to do, they came from running all the way from the chapel, through the casino, back to our room, and all the way back again. On the way to the chapel it occured to me that I may have forgotten to put on deoderant, a likely mistake when your tracking a child and all her get-up. So I'm sitting there at the ceremony with baby on my lap when she starts singing "EIEIO." This could be very bad. Then I'm wondering about my deoderant. Miraculously, the wedding party stood and faced the other direction. With their backs turned, Divina and I made our escape. We slipped out the back door, where I finally took a good whiff. E-gad! I had forgotten the deoderant. To save the entire congregation from experiencing my uniqueness, I left baby with grandma and ran like hell. Returning too late for the pictures I was supposed to be in, disappointed, I did my best to regain my composure. Sarah was so sweet to say it was all okay that I missed it.

Here is a lesser known story. When I left Divina with my mom, they slipped out the side door hoping to avoid baby songs for the entire ceremony. Only they didn't just go outside, they found themselves in a maintainence area which was fenced and locked, no way back inside. Mom played it off to not upset Divina, and fortunately, found a gate which was almost hidden and unlocked. Do-de-do-de-d0, she pushed the stroller around as if nothing happened. Ha.

I found neosporin and some good band-aids work best for the "scabbage" as I call it. Boy, can I relate! It will be a long time before I venture out again in strappy shoes.

Thank you so much for just being there...it means a lot!!
Love to the three of you!
