Gym Bugs

Cruddy day. Headache, bodyache, grumpy. Poor kid had to hang out with me all day. She's a trooper though. She's taken to diving off the arm chair, head first, onto her stack of pillows. It's quite a show. Over and over, checking to make sure you're watching and sufficiently alarmed. She's taking gymnastics lessons now, too. At the YMCA, they put toddlers in a room, call them Gym Bugs, and actually get them to follow directions. This is akin to watching trained birds ride bikes. Strange, yet adorable. Here's the clincher; parents aren't allowed in the room. You can peek through the little window in the door, but as soon as your kid sees you, her poise and concentration just falls apart. This leads the parents to peer over the edge of the window, showing only their eyes and foreheads, then dodge for fear of being spotted. Have you ever seen fish in a tank who think they are hiding? Sad, really.
