There. Put it up in lights. Damn. I'd been letting Divina outside with no shoes on, even encouraging her. What is childhood without feeling the grass under your feet? Now I'm not saying that I'm never letting her go barefoot anymore...no, no, no...I'm just going to be more causious about the deck. Yep. She got a splinter and wouldn't let us get it out. It was small enough but there was irritated, redness all around it. She'd wiggle and squirm in protest. So this morning I took her to Medpoint and $117 later we owned a shard the size of the pencil tip.
The doctor did as I expected and numbed the area using a long needle which probably hurt more than removing the splinter would have, but it made it possible to slice the skin and dig around for it. Divina did cry some but the doctor and several nurses commented on how well she took it all. No kicking, screaming, or violence from my little angel. No way. Such a good girl, well deserving of the three stickers and pink sucker they gave her.
A while after we got home, Mark was able to take a break from work (unheard of for the past three weeks) and played pirate with Divi. ***May I interrupt myself here? I've been listening to Pandora Radio a lot lately and today they are just hitting it! This stuff is really good. My "seeds" are Feist, Zero 7, and Morcheeba. You can listen to Pandora and my stations by clicking on the link in the column on the right.*** I forgot what I was saying. This music is transporting me.

Owwww! What a brave girl. Hana was sitting on my lap while we were reading this post, and she clicked on Divina's foot and said, "Foot. Banaid."
Yes, I am guilty of the same thing, and have had to wait until Hana was asleep to pick 'em out (fortunately they weren't too deep or big) She even has a hand splinter that she got I don't know where that I need to try and remove.
Christopher got a splinter in his finger once and he was a brave little thing while mommy got a pin to break the skin and tweezers to pull the thing out. can't say the same for the husband. He had one in his finger once and kept crying out how it hurt. What a wuss!
Glad all is well.
