Who here knew I was a holistic mom and didn't tell me?

On Saturday we all (Divi, Mark, my mom, and me) went to the Earth Day Celebration at a local park. There I met the nice people of the Holistic Moms group and Divina and I went to a playdate on Monday. We arrived and there were introductions as usual. Divina quickly zeroed in on a girl about her age (almost 4) and took her hand. She did not let go.
I think she's had some sort of kid withdrawl, cause she was obviously elated to see this girl. About five minutes after meeting, we were on the trail through the woods and the girls were pretending to trip on roots and stuff and then laughing heartedly. It went something like this: "whoa!...ha ha ha...whoa!...ha ha ha...whoa!...ha ha ha." That went on for a good twenty minutes.

Also, for the first time in a long time I felt really comfortable with people. These moms and I had a lot in common as far as parenting goes. We talked about vegetarianism, alternative parenting, and organic groceries. Ahh. Nice. Three of them noticed I was wearing Earth Shoes. It was also nice to be among moms again. People who are not parents opperate on a different paradigm of time than those us on child time. Its a different rhythm. After I got home I reflected on the experience and realized that I felt so at home with these women because we have such similar values. I honestly did not know that I became a holistic mom and don't know when it happened. There are things I do that aren't really holistic (I give Divina cold medicine) but many things I do are (not letting her "cry it out"). It's good to be home.

I had a laugh with myself and thought there's a big difference from the me of today and the me of seventeen years ago. I'm becoming holistic, whereas, I was once ho-listic. HAHAHAHAHAHA
