What is the ocean?

How do you answer that? It started with "What is sand?" Why can't she ask me why like kids are supposed to? She always asks me what. "What is wind?" "What is cereal?" "What is Daddy?" And if I answer "sand is tiny, tiny rocks that come from the ocean" she says "what is the ocean?" It's so hard to answer these extremely simple questions. If she would ask "why" I could say "because I said so" or "because its the way of nature" or "to make little girls ask questions" (the favorite of my mother). No, my child is a whater. What is what?
