Spoooooky

Since I was a kid, my mom and my sister have said that we are witches. Weird, spooky things happen to us sometimes and sometimes it seems we make things happen. Now, I have at times entertained this idea, but I don't believe in magic in that sense. So here the story, you decide...

I had this ring, up until last night. It was my wedding ring from my previous marriage. It's a very cool puzzle ring with six independent rings that, when placed together correctly, become one. I'd held onto it over the years because I imagined that one day the marriage mojo would rub off. Alas, not. Every time I encountered the ring it just reminded me of the past in a not-so-good way. So it was time to let it go.

I took it with me to my yoga, hoping it would find a new home and someone could enjoy it. The first person I saw was Nicole, dawning blue and pink hair (this week). She seemed a fitting person for such a unique piece. While showing her the ring and telling about its history we discovered that she is currently dating an old boyfriend of mine, Tom. That was many, many years ago. So my ex-wedding ring is now the possession of my ex-boyfriends girlfriend. It seems that time has folded on itself once again.

That's not the weird part.

This morning Divina found a praying mantis on the screen door this morning. We captured it in a plastic grape box and I set to looking it up on Wikipedia. Here's what it had to say:

"A praying mantis, or praying mantid, is the common name for an insect of the order Mantodea. Often mistakenly spelled preying mantis (an eggcorn, since they are notoriously predatory), they are in fact named for the typical "prayer-like" stance. The word mantis derives from the Greek word mantis for prophet or fortune teller."
